Inappropriate development and overexploitation have seriously degraded aquatic resources in China. Stakeholders identified three fish stock enhancement and biodiversity conservation scenarios for the Beijiang River: S1, increased fish restocking; S2, no fishing season and habitat conservation; and S3, strict pollution control. Potential impacts of these actions on the livelihoods of fishers were evaluated using applied economic modeling. Baseline costs and benefits came from logbooks from 30 fishers and a survey of 90 households in three villages. The financial net benefit for a household was US$1583 (¥11,160) annually, representing a 142% and 387% return on capital and operating costs, respectively. Larger catches associated with S1 and S2 generated a net benefit of US$1651 and US$1822, respectively. Strict pollution control resulting in higher catches (+20%) and lower operating costs (?20%) would increase the net benefit by 15.9% to US$1835 annually. Pollution control would benefit other resource users and is a prerequisite for ecological restoration. Recommendations for Resource Managers
Stringent pollution control measures are essential to conserve aquatic biodiversity and enhance the livelihoods of fishers but will require considerable public and private sector investment.
Enhanced fish stocks in the Beijiang River could benefit poor livelihoods but may not be sufficient to lift households out of poverty, aged fishers require government assistance to diversify their livelihoods, access alternative urban employment, and survive with dignity.
Adopting the economic modeling approach presented here could enable responsible authorities to simultaneously evaluate fish stock enhancement and biodiversity conservation options.
Broader application of the approach presented here could help ensure small‐scale inland fisheries are managed sustainably and aquatic ecosystems are restored and protected by 2020, in line with Target 6 of the United Nations’ Convention on Biological Diversity Strategic Plan for Biodiversity.
Cross‐relaxation among sensitizers is commonly regarded as deleterious in fluorescent materials, although favorable in photothermal agents. Herein, we coated Prussian blue (PB) on NaNdF4 nanoparticles to fabricate core–shell nanocomplexes with new cross relaxation pathways between the ladder‐like energy levels of Nd3+ ions and continuous energy band of PB. The photothermal conversion efficiency was improved exceptionally and the mechanism of the enhanced photothermal effect was investigated. In vivo photoacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy demonstrated the potential of the enhanced photothermal agents. Moreover, the concept of generating new cross‐relaxation pathways between different materials is proposed to contribute to the design of all kinds of enhanced photothermal agents. 相似文献
In this paper, we study the well-posedness of the third-order differential equation with finite delay(P_3): αu'"(t) + u"(t) = Au(t) + Bu'(t) + Fut +f(t)(t ∈ T := [0,2π]) with periodic boundary conditions u(0) = u(2π), u'(0) = u"(2π),u"(0)=u"(2π) in periodic Lebesgue-Bochner spaces Lp(T;X) and periodic Besov spaces B_(p,q)~s(T;X), where A and B are closed linear operators on a Banach space X satisfying D(A) ∩ D(B) ≠ {0}, α≠ 0 is a fixed constant and F is a bounded linear operator from Lp([-2π, 0]; X)(resp. Bp,qs([-2π, 0]; X)) into X, ut is given by ut(s) = u(t + s) when s ∈ [-2π,0]. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the Lp-well-posedness(resp. B_(p,q)~s-well-posedness)of(P_3) are given in the above two function spaces. We also give concrete examples that our abstract results may be applied. 相似文献
We study the well‐posedness of the fractional differential equations with infinite delay on Lebesgue–Bochner spaces and Besov spaces , where A and B are closed linear operators on a Banach space X satisfying , and . Under suitable assumptions on the kernels a and b, we completely characterize the well‐posedness of in the above vector‐valued function spaces on by using known operator‐valued Fourier multiplier theorems. We also give concrete examples where our abstract results may be applied. 相似文献
This study seeks to investigate the removal efficiency of particulate matter (PM) from the actual diesel exhaust at various reaction temperatures by using non-thermal plasma (NTP). The effect of the reaction temperature on removal efficiency was reflected by the change in the concentration of particles in different modes and the weight fraction of volatile organics in PM. The Arrhenius equation was used to determine the apparent activation energies Ea of the soot in PM. In addition, the difference in the oxidation reaction at various reaction temperatures and the effect of NTP on the properties of PM were discussed. After considering the decreasing ranges of the total concentration and the weight of the PM, it was determined that 120 °C is the optimal temperature choice for PM removal. The decreasing range of the total concentration reached 57.13% and 66.79% of PM was removed when the PM is measured by weight. NTP has better effect on the removal of smaller particles. The weight fraction of the volatile fraction markedly decreases after the reaction and the apparent activation energy of soot noticeably decreased. The oxidizability of the excited species in NTP was enhanced with the increase of the reaction temperature. However, the excited species concentration declined concurrently, resulting in the occurrence of the optimized range of reaction temperature. The particles were removed by the oxidation that occurred on the surface of the primary particle and the disintegration of the structure of the particles.
Bimetallic AgPd nanoparticles have been synthesized before, but the interfacial electronic effects of AgPd on the photocatalytic performance have been investigated less. In this work, the results of hydrogen evolution suggest that the bimetallic AgPd/g-C3N4 sample has superior activity to Ag/g-C3N4 and Pd/g-C3N4 photocatalysts. The UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, CO adsorption diffuse reflectance FTIR spectroscopy, and FTIR results demonstrate that in the AgPd/g-C3N4, the surface electronic structures of Pd and Ag are changed, which is beneficial for faster photogenerated electron transfer and greater H2O molecule adsorption. In situ ESR spectra suggest that, under visible light irradiation, there is more H2O dissociation to radical species on the AgPd/g-C3N4 photocatalyst. Furthermore, DFT calculations confirm the interfacial electronic effects of AgPd/g-C3N4, that is, Pdδ−⋅⋅⋅Agδ+, and the activation energy of H2O molecule dissociation on AgPd/g-C3N4 is the lowest, which is the main contributor to the enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution. 相似文献
